Bank Runs Out Of Cash
Last Saturday one of my clients went to her local RBS in the south side of Glasgow to make a withdrawal of £500 out of her current-instant access account.
She was informed that they did not have enough cash for everyone that morning and so was offered a lower amount.
My question is this- would it not be fair for the bank as part of their bargain to offer a £25 ”negative bank charge” for the inconmvenience.
As we all know how quick the banks are at charging for being in breach of their terms.

I think that’s a great idea - not sure how it could be enforced though! The banks just do what they want until enough people complain loudly enough, so one person has no chance. Now, if there were some way of shifting the balance of power to the customers that would make it interesting…

Shifting power away from banks is a dream a number of us have including Mervyn King.
If there are any others with bank stories please let us know.
